FAQ's

How do the sessions work?

All of our classes are structured to run all year long. We call this ongoing enrollment. With ongoing enrollment, you will only have to enroll your child once for the year... that is, until they move into a different level or you would like to change class times.

Our sessions include four weeks so they do not quite line up with the month. However, to keep it easy, tuition is always due on the 20th of each month. There are 52 weeks in a year and we are closed for 4 of them. So each year we offer 12 sessions that are all 4 weeks long, equaling 48 weeks per year. The session dates that you may have seen online are there because we do our billing monthly and that allows us to keep track of how many days are included from one month into the next.

Please take a look at our calendar. Our calendar lays out the sessions for you. This calendar also includes dates that we are closed.

How does billing work?

Billing is everyone's least favorite topic to discuss, but it's what keeps us running so your kids can continue to have fun each week and get exercise at the same time! Your student stays automatically enrolled in class from one session into the next unless you manually put in a drop request online or let a front desk associate know with any written confirmation such as an email, text, or note.

Flex has a Pay Before You Play policy. If the tuition is not paid, your child cannot attend classes or events. We do have waiting lists for many of our classes and your spot may be given away if the tuition is not paid on time. Tuition will always be due on the 20th of each month and that payment will always be to cover the upcoming four-week session.

Autopay is required for all families. This means that you must have a credit card on file and your card will be charged on the 20th of each month for tuition. If you would like to pay another way, you can always do so prior to the 20th of the month. If you make a payment prior to the 20th then your card on file will not be charged. By using autopay, our customer service managers now have more time to create a fantastic experience for your family instead of spending their time on billing.

How do I drop a class?

If you would like to drop your class, you have until the 15th of the month to do so without being charged for the next session. There are no refunds after the 19th of the month. To drop from your class, log into the parent portal then follow these steps: My Account > Students > Enrollments > Drop Enrollment.

We strive to create a great experience for you and your child so please take a moment to explain why you are dropping in the Notes section. We appreciate your feedback!

How do I know when my child is ready to move up a level?

Everyone loves to learn new skills and level up! At Flex we are constantly evaluating your child in each class. We use online progression charts to keep track of skill development. You can always access these charts through the Parent Portal. If you log onto the parent portal you can go to account and then click the star under the students name that you wish to see and it will show you their classes along with the skills in the class. We run a 3 star system (1 meaning they were introduced to the skill, 2 meaning they are showing significant improvement, and 3 meaning they can do it well and consistently) which will help us keep track of all of their abilities. You will notice some skills have an asterisk * next to them and those are our required skills to move up. All other skills are not required but still good to know when moving up.

My child is struggling with a certain skill. How can I help him/her?

If your child has just one or two skills that are holding them back from moving up, we oftentimes have skill clinics for that skill. Some skills just take more repetitions than others and every child learns in their own unique way and at their own unique pace. Our clinics are usually about 30 minutes long and focus on developing those one or two tricky skills. We offer skill clinics any time we have coaches who are available so the times can be sporadic.

What if my child is sick or can’t make it to class?

Here at Flex we offer makeup classes. How this works is when your child misses a class for whatever reason they will be marked as absent for the day and that will generate a makeup token onto your account under their name. Makeup Tokens are used to schedule a class that is the same/similar to the class that they are in and would be used on a different day. So for example if your child missed class on Thursday because they were sick, you would then schedule a makeup on a different day i.e Tuesday and still continue to come in on Thursday. So for that one week you would have 2 classes in one week to make up for the 0 classes you had last week. Makeup tokens have a 30 day expiration and you can use them online through the  Parent Portal or schedule them with the help of a front desk associate. All makeup tokens must be used while currently enrolled in a class. Makeup tokens are no longer valid once you drop your class.

Would you recommend my child take two classes a week?

Yes! At Flex gymnastics we strongly recommend attending at least 2 times a week preferably with a gap in between the classes so they are not back to back. This way your child will get a more well rounded activity schedule keeping them strong and healthy all week long. We even offer a multi class discount of 15% off whenever you enroll into your second class and 25% off the third class per week! That second class can be the same type of class they are already in or they can choose a different program like dance, tumbling, ninja, or gymnastics as long it matches their age & skill level.

Where is a good place to start my child?

Our classes are split up by age groups and skill levels. If your child is between walking and 3 years old we would start them in our Parent and Peanut class, if they are 3 - 4.5 years old we would start them in Tumble Tots. Once we get to 4.5 - 6.5 years old we tie in skills which means they could join KG 1 or KG 2. If they have less than a year of experience then we would recommend starting them in level 1. Otherwise if they do have a lot of experience then we would recommend scheduling an evaluation which you can do on the website. The next age group would be  FR 1-5 which is for ages 6.5 and up, the same rules apply with that as KG, if they have less than a year of experience we would recommend starting them in FR 1 otherwise feel free to schedule an evaluation. One exception class in our recreational program is FR 9+ which is for all girls ages 9 and up to work on skills between levels 1. 2. And 3. Some other classes would include Tumbling, Ninja, and Dance with some other varying age groups which can be found online.

What are the groups talking about when they sit for a few minutes?

We call those our "power chats" where we talk briefly about our powerful word of the month. At Flex we believe that sports teach more than just how to build strong bodies. We also develop kindness, patience, self-esteem, and so much more. We have partnered with child development expert Dr. Robyn Silverman to bring you a comprehensive character development curriculum called Powerful Words. Here at Flex Gymnastics, such a character education program used within the context of our organized gymnastics, dance, and ninja lessons, can invite students to listen, share, discover and reflect on the ways to become upstanding members of our community as well as confident individuals in their own right.

So when you see us having a "power chat" with our students we are not only learning about powerful words but we are also opening up a line of communication to help your children feel like they have a voice and can ask questions, which can be difficult for some children in a student-teacher dynamic.

We teach character, strength, and flexibility not only as it relates to the sport of gymnastics, but also as it relates to life skills.
